My VPS with DirectAdmin suddenly stopped working.
I get ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED on the direct administrator login page and DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN on all connected domains.
The server instance seems to run fine. No errors present.
I cannot connect with ssh. Either with root and admin I get: ACCESS DENIED.
What do you suggest?
Please help

Why not?

You also tried with another pc/laptop?

Thank you very much for your answer. I have tried everything - as you can imagine... :D

Finally, I tried the initial root password which I received right at the beginning for the VPS provider.
I can see that the whole VPS is zeroed - reconstructed.

Is it even possible without any action from my side?

There are obviously no backups either.

I do not know what to do. The provider does not support this service...

What would you do?

Thanks to FTP and root access I can see that it has been reconstructed in the night. I'm the only person with the access...

I received an information from Nazwa.pl that the server was rebuilt several times. I am the only admin and I never did the rebuild. 100% sure.
It seems that the data is gone.

Is it possible that the rebuild was caused by code or overload due to big backup?

No, that's impossible. Especially as it got rebuild with an old password. I assume they error'd and wiped it by accident.

Thank you for your answer ju5t. I thought so.

I will wait up and see how the support will react. I fear the worst - that the data will be lost. That would be a real problem for me, as I have had a few production projects on this server. All of them were backed up with the Direct Admin backup - which is gone.

Oeps. You should always download those backups, otherwise there is little meaning to the word backup.

As VPS are rebuild either from the control panel from the datacenter or by the real VPS owner (so your hoster), you can expect that either that control panel password is hacked for your VPS and it caused a rebuild, or the VPS provider made an error.

If they don't have any snapshot of your vps, you're backups are gone.
