Hello Everyone...

I hope I placed this in the proper forum. I recently got an error message in DA basically saying that I couldn't uninstall the FrontPage extensions on an account because I was trying to do it with outdated administrative tools... it also told me to update the version on the virtual server. This has never happened before so I am confused a bit by it. If anyone can shed some light, I'd deeply appreciate it.

To give you more info to work on, here are some facts. I'm not suggesting this had anything to do with the error, but I did these things just before the error showed up so I thought it would be important to tell you:
1. I just updated DA to v.1.22.4
2. I also just updated Installatron to v.2.3rc7
3. We have RedHat 9 and Apache

Here is the exact error message:
Error removing the frontpage extensions: Starting fulluninstall, port: 80. Created: 14 Jul 2004 20:01:31 -0000 Version: 6.0.2.5516 Error: The server administration programs and the server extensions on the web server are not compatible. The administration program is too old to use with this server. The version (6.0.2.5516) of the server extensions you are trying to uninstall cannot be uninstalled with this tool. You must upgrade this virtual server to the current version, and then use owsadm.exe to uninstall.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

You're in the right place. But the question may have been asked and answered; there's a lot of threads about FrontPage on the forums.

Have you searched for "remove frontpage" or similar?

Hi Jeff...

I have searched for various items related to this with no results that look similar. I know I could have missed something... but I don't think so. If I am looking at this properly, my issue that is, I think the error is telling me that the virtual server that initially installed the FP extensions is now outdated and cannot run the uninstall routine... but that seems illogical to me... since I haven't changed anything... other than updating DA and the Installatron core (I don't think this would effect it though)... maybe the DA one would?

Now, just to clarify... the "virtual server" is a item created by DA... right? Or, is it referring to something that FP creates? Either way, FP is being controlled by DA... right?

Hey,

Here's a snippet from RtR:

When checking my server extensions I get the following error.

The server administration programs and the server extensions on the web server are not compatible. The server is too old to use with this administration program.

Check the frontpage configuration file for your web (/usr/local/frontpage/we80.cnf) and confirm that your extenderversion parameter is correct for your web and extensions.

Here's a good place to search if you don't find any help elsewhere:

Yes, DA creates the Virtual server but, FP isn't really controlled by DA, heck, nobody's ever been able to control anything MS makes or does! (DA simply tells FP to install or uninstall the extensions.)
