Where are messages in Message System stored?

I have over 800,000 messages in the Message System, and the server times out when I try to access them for deletion. Where on the server are these stored? I'd like to get those deleted.

Thanks. I did find them after I made the post - I've cleaned out all files and directories, but my server is still timing out trying to access these messages. (also the count showing has not changed). Is there a way to get this cleared thru DA?

extend timeot limit in admin settings from 60 up to 300 sec, that must be enough, than try again open message center and clear messages (cached headers) from it.
