Why do the counters revert to default after any update?
After any update or build in Direct Admin, the settings we manually entered revert to the defaults. Do I need to reset them again after every update? If so, please resolve this issue so that the settings don't change after updates.

Which counters do you mean? In which files did you modify them?

If you modify configs of managed software directly, then it's the reason you loose the customization after updates in DirectAdmin.
 
Use two versions.

Update will restore default settings.
If it's the PHP settings that get reset when you update DA, that is common (and by design I believe) if you edit the system files/templates directly.

Always use custom templates/files in custom locations that are designed to be read when the services load, but won't get overwritten when updates are rolled out. Check the DA docs for correct custom locations for specific software as locations can vary.

Also, a tip, especially for PHP / Web Server customisations, use the Custom HTTPd Configs file settings in the Admin Control Panel and set your custom directives there. They WILL NOT be overwritten, and can be applied to single versions, or global.
