WWW not working

One of my subdomain ip.jmls.edu is not working with www from outside (though ip.jmls.edu works fine). It works fine within the organization (both with and without www).

people who will make their sites as userfriendly as possible.
Many people automatically enter www in front of a domain name,
so why not.. i don't see the problem with that.

www.jmls.edu is a subdomain

ip.jmls.edu is a subdomain

www.ip.jmls.edu would be like a double subdomain.

ip would be used instead of www not included with www.

You don't use something like www.mail.yahoo.com. You just use mail.yahoo.com.

Lots of people.

Because on many large domains (with hundreds of servers) example.com points to the main router for the domain, while www.example.com points to the webserver for the domain.

Not everyone is in the shared hosting business.

Can you tell me exactly what the problem was? Is it simply a matter of waiting for the domain to propagate across the net or did you do something to fix this problem. I have the same problem here http://hcg20k.net and http://www.hcg20k.net (The first works, the second does not)

You must have recently switched ip's on this domain. They both go to the same place for me.
