Thanks in advance for the answer to this question. For the last 14hrs (since 3am - Montreal-time), I've been trying to get my website online. When I started out, I named the domain tky.com (but was dismayed to find out that a travel industry-based website had the same name), but then changed it to
tomorrowsknowledgeyesterday.com. I know that you have to use the public_html folder to keep all the website-relevant files, but in my case, there were 2 that were named the same (the other one that I had is in the same folder as where the domains folder is.) and by a combination of insane fatigue and overload rage, deleted the entire domain to start over again (to go take a long nap). When I returned, I noticed that that folder I deleted had all the standard Apache error messages and I'm ready to just pick up the box and throw it out the window. Before it meets that ultimate fate, I'd like to know if I can get those from SOME possible source, or do I have to execute some commands that'll restore them. This is my 1st time as a complete TLD admin
and I can't seem to get things on the road. My previous attempts to install the site were unsuccessful as well. I got this hosting package from another member of one of my other forums (as a community freebie), and have not been able to make heads or tails of just what is going on in the DA system. I understand that the domain has to be registered 1st before it can be used and that you have to set the permissions for all files/folders, and lock down your back doors, etc, but when using the Site-Helper embedded in the DA admin panel, I keep seeing references to boxes that I neither have, nor can locate with sustained effort (spent an hour looking for the panel that'd allow me to change the DNS designation;
So, I already know I have issues out of my control. Sent a message to the hosting co. (Profithost.net), but since thy're in Amsterdam (somewhere I'd dearly love to be right now), it'll be a few hrs before I get a reply. I still think that DA is a great alternative to cPanel because of the flexibility and ease of use, but I've got the "deer-in-the-headlights" syndrome and don't quite know how to get the sunglasses on quick fast in a hurry. I also think that my .htaccess file has gone missing too - which I know I can recreate, but I'm no programming ace. This is almost too much for me. I'd like to break out of the sub-domain basement that I'm in now, but I'm sinking deeper into the quicksand. As there's nothing in the webspace, but a few random files (http://192.126.174.194), can someone help me out and address those concerns stated in this post? Thanks. I'd REALLY appreciate it.
