Hello,

Where can I find documentation for the reseller level Reseller Tools > cPanel Import feature please?

`/evo/reseller/cpanel-import`

@EthernetServers I was pointing out the url line he gave, that isn't visible in the docs.
Features change, we are on 1.652 now.

For definite things one should check the docs:

Please make sure it's you who created cpmove-user.tar.gz backup for security purposes, because at this moment we fully trust the content inside, thus available on admin level only. This might change later.
which is why I asked where he found that url line. ;)

Thanks to both of you ... but reality seems not to mesh with the documentation, for the v1.642 docs linked by @Richard G seems to indicate that it is still a very manual process as do the docs linked by @EthernetServers but a look at the page at the url I mention shows this which seems so different than what is documented.

From the image it would seem that it is a completely automated process ... but being unfamiliar with Direct Admin (though I have been using it for months) I am just lost as to how a backup should be restored, today in August 2023. You can find 20 different guides on the internet, so which one is the right one?

Seems you are quite right. Docs are very inconsistent about it. However, it seems like it's self explaining (did not test).
You can use the SSH credentials to login to cpanel.
Then use the "load accounts" option and then I presume you can select which accounts to move over to DA. As said I haven't tested yet.

The other way is shown in the docs I pointed to and is automatically done via admin backup/transfer.
In that case you might find this thread interesting, especially the last part for a part.

Just tested with the reseller, it's really self explaining. Select the accountnames to transfer and then at the bottom use the options on the left side and then the "run import" button.
However, keep in mind the long username setting. You have to either change it in cPanel first to max 10 and then import the accounts, or be sure to set the usernamelength to a higher value in DA first. I would suggest keeping the length at 10 because you want to be able to make some more clear mysql name for databases where the accountname is also always present in there and mysql is max. 16 anyway.

Hello everyone.

Could someone suggest what steps to follow to connect to cpanel via the "cPanel Import" tool?
I can't connect to the server at all. I use a reseller account in cpanel and a reseller account in directadmin.

Should I generate ssh keys in cpanel?
I can't find documentation on this subject, and unfortunately I have no specialist knowledge in hosting management.

Thank you in advance for your help and knowledge.

Any other alternatives?
You can use the cPanel import tool as reseller from within Directadmin.
However, you do need SSH access as reseller on cPanel for this to work, so the DA importer can load the accounts.

Another way is manually unpacking and restoring which is lots of work.

In both cases, I use reseller accounts.
I don't have many accounts, so I could even import accounts from cpanel one at a time.
In WHM I have a Remote Access Key option that generates a remote access key, but I don't know if I could use it in this case.
In cPanel, I can generate SSH keys for individual accounts, but I cannot authorize access for directadmin

but I cannot authorize access for directadmin
You don't need to have SSH access in Direct admin, only in cPanel, but not via SSH keys but you need username/password to login from the reseller page as you can see when you open that page.

So I'm afraid you need to use manual restore, unless somebody else has another idea.
