Our backups have been configured to perform the backup, then FTP it off-site. This model has been working for a couple of years.

Recently during a routine inspection of the backup system, we discovered that the FTP'd files were incomplete.

In an attempt to figure out what's going on, I ran a manual backup this morning. The job ends before I can even execute a 'ps ax' from the console. Here is what's shown in the DA log:

Any idea what's up with /home?

Since md5 sums are not checked on folders there must be a file or something it cannot get a md5 for. The backup program is really old its not suprising it doesnt work right sometimes.

Interesting.....

In searching through the forums trying to find my answer, I saw several references for what appeared to be a third-party backup script. Should I be looking into that?

You say the backup is old and that you're not surprised it doesn't work. Does that mean that its a feature of DA that they are getting rid of? I've had such good luck with DA, that I can't believe they'd let a feature degrade to the point that its not usable.

Is it possible to turn up logging so that I can figure out which file is causing the problem? /home is a rather large place to go looking for a single file.

What else can I use to backup my entire system in the event of a hardware failure? I've liked the DA backups because it makes it easy to restore or move things to another server.
