Backup file error

I'd just like to add, don't forget customisations as well as the admin/Server level backup only backs up what you tell it to and what is on the list. Important things like the /etc/csf files may get missed. You'd lose all your custom settings and blocklists etc and have to setup the firewall from scratch.

Thanks for your help, I'll fire up a Windows machine and install Termius later.
I assume I should install everything on the new machine as admin rather than root.

Are there any directories that shouldn't be moved?

Nick

Grab a look at these pages and it should give you an idea, If you've made any customisations, copy those across.

/etc/bind folder is important
/etc/csf copy your config files across
/etc/ssh/sshd_config so you can log in with same credentials (if needed)
/usr/local/directadmin/data/ - in this folder you'll have things for the DA saetup such as customised skins
/usr/local/directadmin/scripts/custom - if you have any custom scripts
and so on.. (Sure others on here will advise on other things and how they manage it)

Tip: If you copy across the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file and it's customised with another port to mask 22, copy across, enable and restart ssh and open another session with the new port in a new terminal to check it works before you close this session. It will save you getting locked out (Learnt the hard way years ago 🤣🤣)

Good luck!

Alan
