cd /etc
vi yum.conf
Look for the line below:
exclude=apache* httpd* mod_* mysql* MySQL* da_* *ftp* exim* sendmail* php* named*
make sure it doesn't contain the word kernel* in it.
If it does, simply erase that word.
Then run the yum update again.
vi yum.conf
