I currently use DirectAdmin with my webhost is shared hosting account and I can add up to 10 domain names. I just purchased a vps with DirectAdmin where I will be transferring my websites to. The vps web service is an unmanaged vps account so there's no tech support.

The vps DirectAdmin control panel looks like this http://tinypic.com/r/b6xb2s/6
As the above image shows, the DirectAdmin package that the vps webhost installed permits me to add Reseller accounts. I only purchased the vps for added security for my own sites so I have no use for Reseller web hosting.

I'd like help setting up the DirectAdmin control panel (interface) so that I'm able to use it the way I currently use my shared hosting. In other words, when I login to DirectAdmin using http://www.mysite.com:2222, the homepage shows a list of my domain names -- See image at http://tinypic.com/r/al6tde/6 and when I click a domain name I go to this page http://tinypic.com/r/119b495/6 where my File Manager, Email accounts, etc are located.

Could someone help me setup my DirectAdmin so when I login with www.mysite.com:2222 I see this screen -- http://tinypic.com/r/al6tde/6

I've tried for days trying to do this myself but with no luck. The DNS for my server works.

Does anyone have a manual for DirectAdmin? I'm looking for someone to help me setup my account per my thread post.

If you have several domains you have to select one when you login.

You could just create a bookmark to:

http://server.com:2222/CMD_SHOW_DOMAIN?domain=yourdomain.com

if you wanted though.

I'm able to access the specific mywebsite.com website directory (with Filemanager/Email mgmt/sql mgmt) using the bookmark link you showed me so thanks for that. However, I'd like to be able to login to DirectAdmin and click each domain name listed.

I'm reading "Uploading your site" at http://www.site-helper.com/uploading.html and I'm able to view the root directory with the default folders when I access via ftp and the /domains/ folder shows the mywebsite.com inside it.

However, I'm unable to view the domain name in DirectAdmin.

I ought to be able to see the list of my domain name when I login to:
http://server.com:2222/ where I can see my domain names. And when I click a domain name, I'm taken to the specific mywebsite.com directory at
http://server.com:2222/CMD_SHOW_DOMAIN?domain=mywebsite.com

Please show me how to list my domain names at http://server.com:2222/

While many of us, including me, would recommend setting up a new user under your Reseller Level, or even a new Reseller under the Admin Level, if you know you're never going to expand on this server to need either, then the easiest way is simply to click on User Level on the right side, near the top of the blue vertical section.

However you should learn a few things at the Admin Level, for example, how to automate backups.

The DirectAdmin online manual can be reached from any page by clicking on that big arrow near the top. It's context sensitive, and once you're in the User Level you'll see the user-level manual.

Many hosting companies offer help videos to teach DirectAdmin (I do) for our clients; perhaps yours does. Ask them.

You are most helpful -- I wish I had this info weeks ago but I've had to change vps service so I could get paid tech support to migrate my sites. However, even the paid tech support didn't place my domain names under User Level as I expected. Instead, they placed my domains under Admin Level > Server Management > Show all users > themiracle > Login as mira

I just told them to move it to User Level where it belongs.

You state "The DirectAdmin online manual can be reached from any page by clicking on that big arrow near the top. It's context sensitive, and once you're in the User Level you'll see the user-level manual."

However, there's no User Level manual available at http://admin.site-helper.com and http://www.site-helper.com/misc.html#add

Since tech support added my domains at the "Admin" level (under Access Level) under Server Management > Show all users > themiracle > Login as themiracle what is the best way to move my domains to User Level (under Access Level) so that when I login to DirectAdmin, I will see the list of my domain names?

Someone at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=437349 suggested that "If you want a physical site under 'Your user' that matches your main server host name, try just adding the domain in 'Your reseller' panel. I believe you'll first need to remove the domain from your DNS admin page, which won't affect the host name. Re-creating the domain as a site will replace DNS entries. Check in the DNS section of the DA forum, the info you need is there."

Awaiting a reply

Although the account was created at the Admin Level, I was able to login to DA with the username and password for the username and I saw all of my domain names listed.

I'm still not sure at all what you mean, because you can't add a domain at the admin level. You can add a domain at the user level of the admin login, and I presume that's what you've done.

Maybe the issue is semantics.

The entire site-helper come site IS the user manual. It may not be what you were expecting. Perhaps you'd like to learn enough and write one :D ?
