HowTo: MailScanner 4.24 for Exim 4.24

Thank U very much for reply,

In maillog it showing that MailScanner is running.
But in clamd.log its not showing anything.

I don't care about clamd.log
What you need to do is provide snippets of your mail logs showing what is actually happening.

We could go back and forth with this all day :)
Why don't you join the mailscanner channel over on freenode?

#mailscanner

irc.freenode.net

There's usually a few of us in there :)

Thanx

But currently my problem is not regarding this.
My problem is :
I installed MailDcanner according to given documentation and it successfully installed, but virus is not detected by MailScanner.

I am using CLAMAV, and i installed it from tar package ,not from RPM.

I can see that mails are scanned by MailScanner in maillog file. but still virus is coming ?

Which program do you use to make above changes? I use Webmin, but I don't think this is the correct application to do this...
Any help is very much appreciated, since I am new to DirectAdmin and having my own server,

DA Built-In Spam Filters

Has anybody gotten the MailScanner setup described in this howto to co-exist with the "SPAM Filters" available within the DA control panel?

We have a user that is complaining his SPAM filters (basic address blocking) is not working. We implemented MailScanner on his box and we're not sure if the two systems are compatible with each other or not.

hey guys , just curious if someone from tech suipport would update this howto to the current version please.

ReN,

This How-To was written by interfasys, who is solely responsible for it's content.

It's not an official How-To, so there's no one else to rewrite it.

If a volunteer would like to do a clean rewrite, I'll be happy to test it, and if it works, I'll be happy to edit this thread to put in a link to the new thread, and then close this thread.

But I don't have time to create a How-To for a method I really don't think is optimal.

mailscanner clamav

Hi

I followed the whole thread, and still, All my emails come into /var/spool/exim.in/input and sit there, the main logs say its scanning 15 new emails, but never sends it to /var/spool/exim/input please help, looks like other people have posted this, but with no reply..

Spamassassin and spamd

*********************************
Install Spamassasin
*********************************
# cd /usr/local/directadmin/scripts
# ./spam.sh

You can also tweak spam.sh so that it picks up the latest version.

!Do not modify exim.conf to use spamassassin!
!Do not load spamd

I'm still trying to figure out if spamd is needed by somebody...

I'm new at this.
I already setup the Spamassassin in DA.
To do that I edited exim.conf and spamd is running.
Should I first undo those changes before attempting to use mailscanner??
But why? You are using Spamassassin to??

Yes.

Yes, the How-To method uses SpamAssassin differently.

Note that you'll lose the user-level SpamAssassin built in to later versions of DA.

User-level Spamassassin

Note that you'll lose the user-level SpamAssassin built in to later versions of DA.

Isn't it possible to keep the User-level Spamassassin and just use Mailscanner to scan for virusses?

I kind of like that User-level SpamAssassin and so do my clients. :D
