I’ve had my license since 2005. It’s 2026 now and last I checked I’M STILL BREATHING so the deal is NOT OVER. You sold a lifetime product which means you keep it running and keep it updated until I’m in the ground. That’s a binding legal contract!! Now I’m hearing you guys are just "stopping" work on these licenses?? NO YOU ARE NOT. You can't just take my money and then decide the deal is finished because you're lazy.

Also my old datacenter went bust so move my key to my personal email RIGHT NOW. I paid for it as part of my server so it is MY property. You can't refuse the transfer and you can't stop the updates. That is straight up THEFT and FRAUD. Fix my account and keep the updates coming or I'm taking this to a lawyer. I didn't pay for a 20 year rental I paid for FOREVER.

Dude... get a life and check the internet what lifetime in software means. You're still using windows 95 too right? ;)
Anyway, software is still working, even some updates, you can just not use it anymore with new softaware but DA itself still works.

There are already a couple of threads with complete discussions about this, read those first, totally no use to start a new one. Good luck with the laywer too.

you still get the current update / fixed security/bug, what do you want from the lifetime ? New imba feature without paying ? 😒

dont call me dude.

windows 95 wasn't sold as a lifetime deal you absolute clown. and saying the software still works but just not on new systems is you admitting its broken. if i update my OS and it stops working because they abandoned development, then they killed the product I legally paid for.

a contract is a contract. Im not dead yet so development doesn't stop. i dont care how many other threads you guys have justifying getting ripped off.

Since you’re such an expert, find me the legal definition where "lifetime" means "until the next OS update bricks it." You can't. Case closed, moron.

I felt exactly the same way at first and still do. But if I had enough money to hire the right lawyer to take this on I wouldn't be using DirectAdmin at all. It will cost more to fight it. I do agree with you in principle. However if you have a lifetime warrantee on a car if would not be for your life but for the useable life of the car. Lifetime license for DA would be for the life of this DA product. What they should have done is retired this product and started a new product. But they handle this very badly. No notification to clients. But its still better than anything else for the price.

total bs on that explanation. they can only rebrand after I die. lifetime means MY life, not some fake product life the devs made up to rip people off. comparing this to a car is stupid because code doesn't rust. they dont get to retire a promise and slap a new name on it to dodge a contract. that is a scam. i bought this in 2005 and i am still breathing in 2026 so they owe me. stop defending corporate theft.

lifetime means MY life
Whahaha and you call -me- stupid. Ever heard of EOL declaration? Would you rather see that then? Because that's also an option and it's fully legal. Happened with other lifetime licenses too of other products. That is normal in software land.
Only thing I can agree on is that they did not inform their customers properly.

find me the legal definition where "lifetime" means "until the next OS update bricks it." You can't. Case closed
Same closed for you, as you won't be able to find me the legal definition where "lifetime" means your physical life for a license product. :D
But no problem I will stop writing to you anyway.

are you an imbecile?

EOL is for normal licenses. lifetime means there is NO end of life until i am dead. that is LITERALLY the point of the word.

this is a lifetime DEBT. you cannot say EOL to cancel a debt. period.
