I'm try to figure out what this option in Directadmin does

I have:
2x ipv4 address
1x ipv6 address (free)

All three are visible as mi ip addresses in DA , so what is the meaning to link my IPv6 to a IPv4 address ? could my site be found with IPv6? (like a automatic forward ?)

Please explain

Thanks for your reply

I do know what IPv6 is my question was simple, if i use the link ipv6 to ipv4 option in DA is my box automatically know under IPv6 address ?

I know how to add ipv6 to DA but my question was , is make a link to a IPv4 address enough to make this habben ?

If not, what is the use of this function inside DA?

I'm not enough sure, that I understand your question. What do you mean under "link"?

Anyway, you should first of all make sure, your DC supports IPv6 and allows IPv6 traffic. When adding a new IPv6 the behavior is just the same if you add IPv4. Thus if you did not make your users to use a proper IPv6 in Directadmin, then no DNS zone will be updated to have that IPv6, and no web-site will be accessed via IPv6 as well.

So, once again this article you should check with: http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=346

We are using it and indeed if you link an ipv6 to an ipv4 and a user get created it will have both the ipv4 and ipv6 addresses in dns vhost config of apache etc

Hi , thanks for confirming this, did you made any special things to your Nameservers ?

We didnt need to we where allready using ipv6 and used a custom shell script to add the ipv6 address to all user accounts its here on the forum some where but not needed any more.

We run or name server ipv4 and ipv6 this is advisable but has nothing to do with the ip link function in da.

Dns records for the linked ip are added the same as from the main ip.
