new IP address

I have recently purchased three new IP addresses for my dedicated server. I wanted to move a few of my sites to the new IP address so I did a test run with http://www.translationhelp.com

The host I have requires that the IP address be configured through their control panel first so I did that (and according to the host it is all done correctly) Then I went to DA and changed the IP address for the domain I wanted. (See attached image of the DA settings) I left it for the required 72 hours but it still does not show up in my browser at http://www.translationhelp.com. The IP shows up as the new IP address (82.165.148.86) but the site does not show up. I am also unable to connect via FTP at translationhelp.com or check mail at this address.

Doing a DNS look up gives me the correct (new) IP address for this site.

Can anyone help?

First, the IP doesn't appear to actually be routed to a server since it's not pingable and a trace dies at a router. Even if the domain itself wasn't configured correctly, you should still get the apache is functioning normally or shared ip or default index.html when you point a browser at the domain if the IP is actually bound to an interface.

Second, you can't just change the IP address for the domain in the DNS settings, you have to actually change the IP for the user that is hosting the domain.

Assuming that you created a new user with only the translationhelp.com domain, I would first login to DA as an admin and go to the IP manager and add your IPs there. Then, assign the IP to the user that is hosting the domain.

Then go to show/modify users -> username -> modify user -> Set IP to... and select the IP that you assigned to the user.

Then go back and check the DNS zones and make sure that everything is correct. You may need to restart named and/or apache after you do this.

If you just added the domain to a current user, I would instead remove the domain, create a new user and add the domain to that user unless you want all of the domains to be changed to the new IP...

There are likely other ways to do this but that should get you started.

That was the problem. All of the new IP addresses and all of the domains are mine. I do not have ANY users. They are all under the admin account. It looks like I have to create a new user, change the IP for that User and then add the domains that I want on that IP.

That is going to be a lot of work since I have sites up for all of these domains and I assume I will have to recreate those sites and databases under the new IP address.

Anyway to avoid this? I would rather keep all my domains under one admin account if possible. Just makes it easier (aside from this issue)
 
I get a "Apache is functioning normally" what next to do to make my site visible to users?
 
These forums are full of references to the message Apache is functioning normally. It can occur for various reasons, most focussing around DNS not maching the IP# set up on your server. If you're willing to research them, then you can find helpful references here (google.com). If you're not doing to do the research yourself, you can always hire someone to do it for you.
