POP from two machines downloads all emails everytime

I am using pop all the way around, but the BB wouldn't go on pop until a call was made to them to force it. It will use IMAP until that is done. The settings on the BB itself wouldn't force IMAP.

Going to dovecot and forcing pop did it me me.

The only other time I was having trouble with duplicate email was not BB related (I was using a VM and the timekeeping was way off, to I set a cron to reset frequently. When the time was set back, Outlook would grab duplicates).

Do you get duplicates in Outlook if you check your email with Squirrelmail?

I meant forcing the BB to go to pop. Going to dovecot doesn't remove the ability to use imap. The BB software simply checks if IMAP is supported by your server, and if it is it won't do pop. So I had to have the customer actually call in to BB, go thru the chain of idiots until someone finally came on who knew something about the software, and did a setting change on their end, not on the device itself. That was necessary.

Squirrelmail uses IMAP, only it uses it better than the BB does. This is a bug in the BB software, and unfortunately we are left to clean up the mess. I'd call BB and follow the chain until you find someone who can force the BB to use pop.

Ok, got you now. Sounds like something is finally fixable. Thanks again mate :)

Yea, this problem is one of those things where you just look and the floor and shake your head...

Please post again after you get that setting changed and let me / us know if the issue is gone.

Ok, I've let the client know of what needs to be done. I will see if his service provider can do it for him. And if not, I've asked him to change to IMAP on his PCs as well.

BTW - I'm mostly using roundcube these days. I find it better than Squirrelmail.. when it comes to the interface.

BB can fix it, but the first bunch of people my customer (who in this case happens to be Dad) talked to couldn't change the setting. I tried talking to several different people, and finally I found a guy who in 30 seconds made the setting change. Is it Verison?
