Hello

I had confusions about where to start this thread.So if you want, a moderator can move this to DNS forum.

I am running a VPS with direct admin for my little hosting business and I am having problems setting up custom nameservers for my resellers.I have two IP's on the servers.2nd One is used for web sites,and first looks as free and assigned to "admin " at IP administration

Now the problem is how can every reseller use these IP's as custom nameservers with the proper records.Can someone help me ?

Regards;

The primary place that nameserver records have to be created is at the registrar.

After that simple create A records for the nameservers in the zone file.

Admin-Level Difficulties works for me because it's a problem understanding a setting while logged in as an admin.

Floyd is right, but perhaps you'd like a bit more explanation. The setup may seem a bit confusing.

Whatever nameservers you set up in your admin login's reseller level will be assigned to newly created resellers. Don't bother to create nameserves; just list the two names you want to use for all your resellers.

Then when a new reseller is created it will automatically be assigned those nameservers.

As reseller you can create nameservers, but we never do. We simply assign nameserver names (see Floyd's post) for new users under that reseller.

We've never created nameservers under DirectAdmin and I'm not sure what that even does. Anyone?

Jeff
