SNDS - Smart Network Data Service from MS - upcoming changes

Signed up to them a while back and submitted all my server IPs. Haven't had any issues with deliverability to to any Microsoft account yet. Think they're just tightening their belt to weed out more of the bad actors out there.

Yep, got the mail about that already 2 times.;)
Being member helped me to get help twice fairly quick when my server was blocked, but it was in fact not my server but a netblock. And since I had not been on their blacklist for a long time probably our server was mitigated and we could mail again.
It really makes sense to be a member.

Well they say prevention is better than cure. I, myself, believe that it's better to be subscribed to something and not need it rather than not be subscribed and come to urgently need it at some point. By that time, it's just a disaster turned catastrophe 😶😁

I have been a member since many years but these last couple of days they are blocking various servers without reason. After contacting them they mitigate the IP but it's causing issues for many clients.

Is anyone else seeing these issues?

=> YES!

We also have been a member for years without issues, all our IP's are green as well, no complaints / reports.
But somehow we got blocked twice the last 2 months for no reason.

The servers are also not listed in their SNDS as malicious, and after opening a ticket, we immediately got a reply that we are not blocked, we had to open a manual ticket for it to be resolved (2 times already for 2 different IP's)

I had in the overview the message, that my IP was reported in the past 24h, but in the date overview, where one has to click on the date to get the actual feed, there was nothing reported, no feed.

They should call that their little FU list. You can get on that list already by simply moving a few shared hosting customers to a new ip address. It's their own internal list and obfuscate the real block reason by calling it a netblock. That not only makes a hoster look bad, it also makes you either waste time or forces you to bow to MS and ask permission to mail their to one of their 'users/products'.

The SNDS and JMRP from Microsoft has always been useless for me. You have to send out massive amounts of messages before SNDS or JMRP gets triggered and none of our servers send out that many messages. (I have no what the goldilocks number is for "massive amounts" but it's more than 100 per day or so).

And that's the issue I have with these programs. Our servers get blocked by Microsoft, but we get nothing from SNDS or JMRP - so what's the point of these programs?

Microsoft - and any of the other major players in the Email Service Provider industry - can block your server's IP for one reason: Because they can. The everyday human being recognizes the name Microsoft (or Google or Yahoo) and does not believe they can do anything wrong because they're a massive company. So if your server's IP is being blocked by Microsoft it's OBVIOUSLY because of a problem with your server, it can't possibly be because Microsoft is wrong.

The key with Microsoft is that you have to submit a ticket regarding your IP address being blocked. It doesn't really matter if your a SNDS or JMRP member, I gave up on that a long time ago. After you submit a ticket, in a few hours you'll get a reply saying something to the effect that they don't see any issues with the IP address. This is a canned response. Reply back to that ticket and ask them to escalate it. Then in a few more hours, you'll get a response that the block has been mitigated. You have to reply to that first message to get anything done.

For better results, I'd encourage you to sign up or use a free outlook.com email account solely for submitting this ticket and replying back. This way you're within Microsoft's walled garden. Can't be blocked for receiving their message or sending a reply to their message if you're using the same ecosystem they are using to generate and send those messages.

Outside all of that, if you're not already a member to the MailOps mailing list - you may want to consider that - https://www.mailop.org - you can generally get connected to someone that actually has controlling power to these Email Service Providers from that list.

I don't agree fully with that. I had issues getting of their blacklist in the beginning. Also on manual correspondence they asked if I met all requirements.
After becoming a member I got my ip's released easier and way quicker, by just pointing out in the second mail (which creates the manual support) being a SNDS/JMPR member and having no issues.

Even in spite of what like @sysdev said I when we changed ip's like 2 years ago, we got easily unblocked with one of them as they checked our account and old ip when I told them it was probably because of ip changed (new ip was in netblock it seemed).
So experience can differ.

However, I do have an outlook.com account with which I had registered my server ip's and which I use for correspondence. That might make a difference too.
