I just read through a lot of this update.script thread and I'm still not sure how to use it to install mod_security on a CentOS 5 system.

If anyone has, or could write, a short step-by-step cookbook, I'd really appreciate it.

Also, a link to a good explanation of how to choose a ruleset.

Thanks.

Some weird things happening after I did some installs via this script

After I did the installs of various programs this morning with update.script and following the instructions for editing the relevant files I am getting this after running ./build php n in the custombuild directory

Running CENTOS 5.6 32 bit on a new machine that I built.

Code:
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613//usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/clamav.so' - /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613//usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/clamav.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

I try to install IMAP, but I have always

After rebuild php, I have this message at the end :

Code:
/usr/local/imap-2004c1/lib/libc-client.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [libphp5.la] Error 1
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
/usr/local/imap-2004c1/lib/libc-client.a(osdep.o): In function `ssl_onceonlyinit':
/usr/local/updatescript/imap-2004c1/c-client/osdep.c:267: warning: the use of `tmpnam' is dangerous, better use `mkstemp'

I try to edit /usr/local/imap-2004c1/lib/libc-client.a, but it is not readable.

Does not work with Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit

I decided to go with Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit after not being able to install CENTOS 5.6 64 bit on this new machine I picked up.

Attempted to run updatescript to install IMAP and ffmpeg and got all sorts of errors basically saying the OS was not supported.

Any ideas?

Didn't see this come up in search, but eaccelerator with php 5.3 requires this extra config:

--without-eaccelerator-use-inode

Otherwise open_basedir gets tripped up it seems.

Excuse me sellerone, I read your message to fast, and understand you ask me some details to help me.

My message was just for update.script, as they can maybe modify their script for other persons.
Their script is very usefull, but better when it works. Not so easy to update for all system, with a free soft.

After i did the MODsecurity 2.x install this is what i get after when i try restart ? any ideas

Code:
Stopping httpd: [FAILED]
Starting httpd: httpd: Syntax error on line 17 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: LoadModule takes two arguments, a module name and the name of a shared object file to load it from

First i had this error

Code:
httpd: Syntax error on line 167 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 2 of /etc/httpd/conf/extra/httpd-includes.conf: Cannot load /usr/lib64/libxml2.so into server: /usr/lib64/libxml2.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

And then i did

cd /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild/
./build rewrite_confs

and i got the error i got first

Code:
Stopping httpd: [FAILED]
Starting httpd: httpd: Syntax error on line 166 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 2 of /etc/httpd/conf/extra/httpd-includes.conf: Cannot load /usr/lib64/libxml2.so into server: /usr/lib64/libxml2.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

you use /usr/lib64/libxml2.so and this file not install in your server
try /usr/lib64/libxml2.so.2
or send your server login info if you want me to do it :)
