Well I got this server with DA on and I have been trying to set it up now for a few hours and I am lost.

I have used cpanel for years now and I thought this would be easyer but I don't think sio now.

I don't understand where to start first.
The 3 access are VERY CONFUSSING to understand where you are to be to setup.

The one IP they setup for DA and said to use it for anything else on the server.

Adme Reseller User very confussing what you need to edit.

I want for our manin hosting site now is that a reseller or is that a admin with it's own ip?

Now if I have to add another client is he a reseller and I add all info olny in the reseller area or ?

I have looked over the help section.

Nameservers I think I may have them coorrect.

Some help here please, I needd to get under way need to add about 100 accounts on this server.

Regards,

Richard

8 views and no help I can see I am going to like this product, sorry for being negitive but we are not all programmers out here.
A simple step where and how to get setup would help.
Confusing with ADMIN-RESELLER-USER where do you start setting up the server from scratch?

The first thing I would do is read the docs, they can be found at http://admin.site-helper.com/ for the admin portion. That is the best place to start. There is also a site for resellers http://reseller.site-helper.com/ and users http://www.site-helper.com/ .

I am not than familiar with CPanel, other than as a user for a few months. Think of the admin as WHM, as an Admin you manage the resellers, users and host specific duties. As a Reseller you can manage the users signed up under that reseller. As a User you can only manage your domain and associated services, such as email, databases, mailing lists, ....

If you are logged in as the Admin you will have the ability to act as the Admin, Reseller, and a User. Each allows you configure different things. As the Admin, you want to set up your IP address(s) and DNS, create Reseller packages and Resellers. As the Reseller you want to create User packages and add/remove/modify Users. As the User this is where you manage the services your domain(s) will use.

If you are logged in as a Reseller, you will only have the option to act as the Reseller and User, and if logged in as User you are restricted to only User functions.

Hello

I have read over and over the docs I have tham all printed out for the admin stuff.
I have been on this all day so far little head way.

Question, What IP is used for the shared is it the one that the provider told me it was used only for DA and don't use it for anything else?

So what you are saying is all admin things need to be setup in only the admin menu.

Do you add all the ip's in the ip manage, like I have 16 here.
I have 2 setup for nameservers, but when you look at the table it shows that they are free.

I used cpanel for about 5 years no problems from day one with setup.

I am just not very far in setup here yet.

Does our main hosting company web site go under admin or is it a reseller, and have to create a reseller account?

Also the packages you setup in admin they are used for your resellers correct?

And if the reseller sells anything they are user is this correct?

Still confused should of stayed w/cpanel.

Some help please so I canm change my mind about DA.

That is really up to you. You can use the server IP for shared use or you can assign a shared IP to a reseller you create.

So what you are saying is all admin things need to be setup in only the admin menu.

That is where they are done, you won't be able to manage them from other the other menus, because they don't exist in the other menus/login types.

Do you add all the ip's in the ip manage, like I have 16 here.

If you read the IP Manager section they say right there that name server IP's will be free unless you mark them otherwise. You may still use those IP's for web hosting as well.

Serverguy,

One quick thing to remember. The forums are a user to user support area. It is not the official support from DA. For offical support you need to email them.

As to the domain name thing. I just got setup myself last night and ran into the same thing as you. I entered my main domain as the primary domain for DA, then found I couldn't enter it as a reseller account - makes sense when you think of it.

If you have your domain as the admin domain you can still setup packages for users, and you login as the admin to manage them.

Or you can not have a main domain under the admin and just create it within a reseller account. This is what I am going to do when I get home tonight.

I will be creating a reseller account with unlimited resources and put certain accounts under this reseller - even though it is just me.

Please bear in mind that I have never seen or used CPanel. Any new system you use will be a little different. Try not to be negative, I realize you may be rushed, but that isn't the fault of the DA folks. I too am in a bit of a rush to move sites from one server to my new one so I can shut down the old one before being charged another month, but any delays were my fault, not DA's.

When I ordered the software I did mention the server wouldnt' be up for a few hours (and it was even later than that due to traffic and accidents). Within 30 or so minutes from placing the order I got an email saying they tried to install but my server didn't respond!

Later in the day when my server was finally online, I emailed them, and within 30 minutes I noticed they were already logged in installing DA - and this was around 11:00 pm.

Hello Dale

We have it up abd running now, it toke all day but we are under control at this time.
Mike from DA just wrote me to so with all this will help us out tell we get going here.

Thanks for the info.

Richard

Glad to hear it!

The software is very powerful and like all such software that gives you options, sometimes it is difficult to decide which options to choose.

I have been going back and forth all day myself trying to figure which way to set things up.

Dale

p.s. welcome to the DA club :)

I did write DA before I posted here but I didn't get a reply back fast enough so I went the board.

It looks interesting.

Thanks

Richard
