Hi,

I'm on Almalinux 8.10 right now with latest DirectAdmin Legacy license.

Is it safe for me to upgrade to Almalinux 9?

Right now, the instance is running flawlessly, so I don't want to break anything.

If it's safe, what is the best way to upgrade?
I've read several posts here and found nothing close to my need.

Cheer.

Best way is always backup everything, and install Almalinux 9 freshly and Directadmin and then restore.

You can also upgrade to Almalinux 9 with Elevate.
Normally this is safe, but always be sure you have backups before you start and follow the guide properly, so do the dry run test first!

Hello,

Neither DirectAdmin developers nor DirectAdmin users will guarantee anything here. Though the process of the upgrade is designed to be as much safe as possible. There are always risks that something goes wrong. You are the only one to take all the risks, if you are going to do it on your own.

Almost an year passed since CentOS 7 is EOL, and I had to deal with various issues occurred during the OS upgrade. In the worst scenario we had to recover a server from a snapshot. In other cases solve issues detected at a pre-upgrade step: missing CPU flags, bad partitioning, issues with network devices, etc.

Thus if not to panic and to have backups with an access to the server's console in a browser or over IPMI/IPKVM, an upgrade can be safely completed.

Is it safe for me to upgrade to Almalinux 9?
