Is it possible to setup a reseller account using a subdomain instead of a real domain?

Here is the thing.. I am setting up a server for reseller hosting mostly but I have a few old retail accounts that I have from long ago. I want to create a reseller account for myself so I can put my retail accounts under it. When I attempt to create the reseller account the form wants a domain name for the reseller. So, I don't really need a domain for this, it could use the main domain for the server of xyz.com or better yet a sub like reseller1.xyz.com.

Is this possible?

Also for end user accounts can I use a subdomain? Let me explain...

I have a customer who's site I host on a totally different server. Let's say his domain is domain.com for example. I want to leave the hosting for the domain of domain.com on the other server but I want to create a new site on our DirectAdmin server with a subdomain like billing.domain.com. Is this possible? If so, how?

DA will see a subdomain as a domain, as long as it's entered that way.

You don't need to set up a reseller account for yourself; you can just switch to the admin reseller panel.

Just type billing.domain.com as the domain name. It works for me everytime. The only problem I ever seem to have is that I can not install frontpage extensions on a domain created this way. Everything else appears to work fine.

Thanks for the info guys.. Now let me add a twist to this..

What if domain.com is already hosted on the same DA server, say as the main domain for the whole server?

Thanks a ton..

that's where it works best. Mainly because the domain.com is listed as the authoritive domain meaning no specail hoops have to be jumped thru to get the 3rd level domains to work. You could not possibly create a 3rd level domain name on a server that the 2nd level domain wasn't created on without having dns editing rights on the authoritive server.
