Hi everyone
I need to understand
I found this https://forum.directadmin.com/threads/directadmin-server-hostname-nameserver-question.61431/
and I added those 3 records as you see, to my surprise no "server.mydomain.com is the hostname and name server.
I thought that shouldn't work.

here is the steps that I did
1- change the host name to server.mydomain.com and NS1 and NS2 update for the new domain
2- updated the DNS record on Direct admin and added to NS1.my domain.com. and NS1.my domain.com. (included the trail dot at the end)
3- checked the directadmin.conf and server.mydomain.com is there the record of NS1 and NS2 are there.
4- made sure that my doamin on cloudlflare record has

to be clear
1- server.mydomain.com:222 is working to access DA
2- but not working with mydomain.com:222

my question:
what issue with using Cloudflare domain registration this way?
otherwise, I need to move the domain to another registrar.
any used this methods
Thank you All

Please check list Port supported here.

As you know,
nameserver ( ns{X} ) use port 53

you must grey cloud, if application don't have the ports list that support on cloudflare site.

yes agree it works only with the grey cloud. once I turn the proxy doesn't work

I am surprised it's my first time using a domain on Cloudflare as Hostname

I used to transfer my domain to Namecheap in order to make the domain a Hostname because many forums claim that we can not have the Domain on Cloudflare as a hostname.
I hope that I am not missing something, or effect emailing

Depends on how they mean this. Indeed a lot can not have the domain as hostname, because those are different things.
For example. Say you have a domain called domain.com then there are people who want to use domain.com (so the domain name) als hostname. You can't have that indeed. A hostname should be a FQDN hostname.
So domain.com would not be possible but server.domain.com is a hostname, not a domain name, so that is possible.

Probably they mean it this way. It would be rather odd if you could only use the hostname part of a domain name on a server and had to use another domain name for the rest. ;)

If I understand you right, that is the case with me. I am able to use server.mydoamin.com:222
but I am not able to use Domain.come:222 on the Cloudflare case. while I changed the Server's Hostname to sever.domain.com

on my other server I have the domain registrar is on Namecehap which is working : server.mydoamin.com:2222 and mydomain.com:222
both are fine.

well, I don't want to do in this odd situation. Sounds like I need to transfer the domain back to Namecheap or a better provider. it's expensive

@Richard G do you know a good convince domain registrar other than Namecheap it costs $16 for annual renewal for one single domain.

Oh LoL, wel that depends on the domain tld which you are using. Prices went up a lot higher the last years, especially the .com and .org domains.
I see .com renewal is 14,82 in euro's. Same as we pay here. I wouldn't know a cheaper one.
