Hi Guys

I have a dedicated server and I am running DirectAdmin on it.

I am thinking of starting my own webhosting company. I am planning on having WHMCS for the Hosting Company website.

However I need to know how to setup DirectAdmin for this project. Are there websites or Tutorials that can help with this ?

If not can someone here offer some help ? I would VERY MUCH Appreciate it.

Thanks

DirectAdmin was written for, and used mostly by, webhosting companies; exactly as you're thinking of doing it.

Information on DirectAdmin comes from the Directadmin website, the KnowledgeBase, and the DirectAdmin Help Site.

If after checking these you have specific questions, please feel free to ask in the appropriate forum here.

Thanks Jlasman

I have just looked everywhere on them 3 links you provided. But I was unable to find a step by step guide on what needs doing on DirectAdmin in order for me to have a Hosting Company Setup.

Is there such a guide ? Or if you could outline the steps that would also work.

Thanks

What I mean is do I have to:

1) Create a Reseller Package
2) Create a Reseller Account
3) I'm not really sure. Configure Hosting Packages !!
4) and so on.

==========================================

For (1) what do I put for these settings below (image link) ? Or what are the best settings to have. I want my hosting to be secure (both on my site and client's side) but also feature rich and user friendly.

This is the kind of advice and help I need.

Thanks

Really these are decisions you need to make yourself. If you've visited sites from any other webhosting sites you know that most of them offer several different plans, with different resources available. That's what you'd set up on the page you've posted. You create the plan as a reseller, give it a name (you can use newpackage but you can use a more descriptive name as well).

Once you've set up one or more plans then you add your users with a specific plan and they're limited to those resources.

There's no easy way anyone can decide for you what to offer, and if you can't follow me on this, then you may need someone who can to sit down next to you and help you make the decisions.

One option is to set everything as unlimited, but then you'll have to watch your users, because if any of them start taking advantage of that, you may end up using more bandwidth than you'd expect, and owe your upstream provider for a lot of extra bandwidth, and you could run out of space on the server as well, which, under worst case scenario, could crash your server. Or you could have users overusing your resources such as MySQL, and bringing your server to a crawl.

While many of us on these forums have enough knowledge and experience to help you, doing so would be a long drawn out process, and take a lot of time most of us just don't have because we need to run our business.

My company can help you with this, step by step, through email or telephone, but we'd charge by the hour, and our hourly rate is not cheap.

If you're interested in hiring us please write me at the address below, in my siglines.

Hi Jlasman

I realise that It is up to me what packages to create ..etc I have already got my website ready in Dreamweaver with all the hosting packages that I'm going to have. The site is ready for upload (screenshot below).

What I am unsure about is .. which model does one have to choose. Below is a screenshot of what I mean.

I mean does my hosting website reside in a Reseller package ? or do I have my hosting website on the main server (i.e. not inside any packages).

Thank You.

PS. How much is your hourly rate ?

For easiest manage (in my opinion) I create a reseller account just for my own sites and create individual user accounts for each of my domain names I mark everything as unlimited as I follow my sites carefully to make sure they don't use up too much in the way of resources. While I could do this under the main admin reseller account, or even under the main admin account's user level, I don't, for maximum flexibility (I may want to change IP#s, or even move sites, later).

Please feel free to look at my website's server administration page. Hourly administration and consulting work is available as well; please write the address in my siglines, below, for more information.
