Hello,

Don't you think that UebiMiau is an outdated application? It's webpage has't been updated for ages. I think that there should be an option in DirectAdmin which should let you to enable/disable UebiMiau, SquirrelMail etc. Or completely remove UebiMiau and instead of it include RoundCube WebMail (it is beta, but much better than UebiMiau). Waiting for your opinion :)

Edit: RoundCube is included by default now!

Since UebiMiau doesn't use IMAP, if it's ever removed everyone with email in EubiMiau mailboxes won't be able to access their email.

The question should probably be, "what do you want to see added?".

basicly it's configured to use pop, BUT uebimiau can use imap without problem, just config to change, howewer prefer squirrelmail !
The very bad point is that ubm like use temp files, can be a big part of the harddisk, without any limitation, neither survey...

Yes, but if you change it to use IMAP you'll lose all those proprietary folders, just as if you delete it completely. I think those of us who have users actually using UebiMiau and subfolders are stuck.

I prefer Squirrelmail as well.

I wonder why DirectAdmin staff don't want to add the best free WebMail with AJAX (others with AJAX are not free or not as good as RoundCube is) features - RoundCube... Horde or the RoundCube would be the best alternatives to the SquirrelMail. Don't you think so?

Alternative is when it does not need much ressources
there is no better than squirrelmail today, but i would see horde as webmail - admin choice - on place of obsolete uebimiau (and stay with squirrelmail )
Other use special ENV and are subject to more security bugs.
We use SQ specially for spam survey and report, with a little modifications. Customers are very happy about.

Yes, I wanted to say that RoundCube and Horde would be the better alternatives to SquirrelMail than UebiMiau. e.g. leave only squirrelmail as default and RoundCube or Horde as optional.

Also, Happy New year, xemaps!

So you're saying that folk currently using UebiMiau should just lose their folders? That you don't care?

Even if you're saying only new servers, many of us move user accounts between servers for one reason or another.

message copy is easy, script is easy to do ... if needed
when user change for another webmail they purge at least.
And i am not sure with quota about this...

Do i understand you're a uebimiau user ?

I'm not a UebiMiau user. In fact on all our new servers we alias webmail to squirrelmail and if we move users to those new servers, we let them know they can find uebimiau if they need it.

But we'll never remove it, because we know some of our clients depend on it.

Jeff

I would like to see SquirrelMail and Horde being the primary with UebiMiau deprecated.

I'd also like to see a option so that you can select which is the primary webmail of choice.

I took a look at RoundMail and given its limited history and very beta status I wouldn't jump over to it.

What kind of word would you be looking for? I'm betting if they're going to make changes they'll put them into the Version Control System, here.

Haha :) jlasman, I know that version control system ;) And I've known it for a long time. Words as: it will be included into next release, we will not include any new webmail system, we are planning to include a new webmail system as soon as possible etc. They aren't going to put a new webmail system this month, because they have more important things to do. But I and some others don't know when it will be included (or not included too) into the DirectAdmin and if they're planning to make changes - we don't know what they are planning to do.

smtalk, my guess is they haven't made a final decision. You can always write them for a more specific reply.

vandal, you could have just changed the alias; we do that on new systems.
