I believe they have an Open Source webmail client.
They do, but it's missing a lot of the features. The Open Source version makes it brings the capabilities down to the level of Nutsmail! while bringing the Ajax capabilities of RoundCube. If you want something that can automate people's time better than Exchange/Outlook WebAccess, with more capabilities, you need to spend the $35/user. I see them missing a great opportunity here. They no doubt have a lot a work into it, and should be compensated well for it. But the way it stands, they will never get the word out at that price when Exchange + Outlook Web Access + Sharepoint Services is something they may already own. IMO, the only audience they can garner this way are the dyed-in-the-wool Microsoft haters. Also, I don't think having the price up there will make them more money. I think they will make less.

For DA users, it means using Postfix, whether that be good or bad, I don't know.

Zimbra is the new gold standard

I have been been primarily with CPanel for about 5 years now and considering a switch to Plesk or DirectAdmin depending on a few requirements. The most critical being support for Zimbra which was recently purchased by Yahoo!

The open source version has everything we need to sustain our communication needs and the roadmap looks good for the future. The requirements from the control panel would be the auto provisioning of new Xen instances for each of our clients, which CPanel is not currently able to do.

Can DirectAdmin handle virtualized provisioning with RHEL5?

DirectAdmin is a single server solution and it does NOT have a facility to run multiple virtual servers; one for each client.

Right, I have searched how I can change the default webmail client.

When I goto www.domain.com/webmail - I want Roundcube to appear rather than the Ubtmail (s&*t).

I have read that it's just a small change in a http.conf file, OK, but which one? Where do i find this file so Roundcube shows as the default webmail?

Also, I have followed http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=92 to change it to webmail.domain.com - but this hasn't changed.

Thanks for your time.

JB

PS I also notice Atmail is also included but when I use this it wont send emails as it cannot connect to the SMTP server??
