I need to change my PTR record so that certain email systems do not reject messages from my domain. My server's IP is 65.99.206.78 which is also assigned to Reseller itribal.com and my main website is User powwowtime.com at 65.99.206.79 (the server came with a block of five IP's and three remain unused). I have a dedicated server so I pretty much have full run of the show.
SO I logged into DirectAdmin as Admin and went to DNS Administration, went to PTR and entered (reversing DNS as per the help website):
78.206.99.65.in-addr.arpa PTR itribal.com. <-with period@end
I also did this for powwowtime's DNS entry
79.206.99.65.in-addr.arp PTR powwowtime.com.
I looked at dnsstuff.com and they said my DNS server (ns1.itribal.com or ns2.itribal.com which I both set up at 65.99.206.78) reports that no PTR records exist.
You're probably all shaking your heads at this and going "Gawd what a NEWB!" but what can I say...
Any cool ideas y'all would like to share?
