Firefox & new DA install login Problem

Hello,

I'm having the same issue. Using Firefox I cannot log in into DirectAdmin. I can log in with Safari.

I'm using Firefox on macOS 11.5.2.

I also have this experience on several of our servers. I reported it a very long time ago with DirectAdmin support. I checked the ticket and it was from 2/13/2020. Back then they said it was just me and they couldn't do anything about it.

Feels "good" that I am not the only one with the issue. And yes, it appears to be only with Firefox (-based) browsers. Chrome and Edge provide no issues. Also it seems to be happening with the Evolution skin and not all DA servers have this issue. Just some.

If I recall correctly; I also tried on a different computer, but the same issue with Firefox. But since DA support said they couldn't find any issues... I leave it alone. No clue what the cause is, but it's related to certain servers with the Evolution skin along with Firefox. Never could find the cause of it. Now when I cannot login on some DA server, I just use Chrome.

That's it, my firefox works now :) I added this line to directadmin.conf : check_referer=0

Aparantly this issue hapens when you change urls in the instalation

@onzem

Thank you! And DirectAdmin support said I was talking rubbish almost 2 years ago!! Good to know I was NOT wrong.
Thanks...

Interesting fact: I've had this problem for 3-4 days now in Firefox while Chrome works fine. Just now, after reading this thread, I pushed F12 before logging in, got the Debug console at the bottom, and suddenly I'm able to login to DA from Firefox

I'm still having this issue with one site that uses DirectAdmin. I'm not able to log in with Firefox, I must use Safari.

The version of DirectAdmin is 1.63.7.

did you added check_referer=0 into directadmin.conf , as here mentioned earlier?

Odd... I wonder if you have any addons which might be causing issues. I always use Firefox, don't use the referrer option and never have issues.

Did you use the check_referrer=0? Ah... Johannes beat me to it. :)

I just tried that and it works. To be clear, the below URL allows me to use Firefox to access DirectAdmin.

https://server.example.com:2222/?check_referrer=0

I've had this problem on at least four different DirectAdmin hosts over the last 4-6 months, only on Firefox. It initially takes a while before it shows up. My guess is that it is a Firefox caching issue.

At first, I got it working by using F12 at "just the right time", then I discovered that I could get it to always work by entering http: instead of https:, and letting it redirect to https:.

I'm in the process of moving back to cPanel. For other reasons.

That's interesting. I never use http or https... i just enter domain.com:2222 which also takes less time because I don't time http or https.
Maybe that's the reason I never had issues?

However, it shouldn't happen in any case, so should need a real fix.

Well in fact you should put the check_referrer=0 in directadmin.conf and then restart DA, but it's nice to know it works this way too.

Wouldn't it be better if DirectAdmin would address the issue? I assume DirectAdmin should remove the check referrer function as it causes problems for some browsers.
