In case no one noticed, the links in the start of this thread are 404's, and it doesn't talk about the cPanel transfer tool in Directadmin and it's options:
Replace existing user
Ignore convert errors
Preserve owner

cPanel import tool is a part of DirectAdmin now. You may find this feature on admin level when logged in to DirectAdmin control panel.
