Error - Restore admin.root.admin.tar.gz at 3 machnes !!!

Hello, Dear DirectAdmin Lovers:

I have a problem with "saving" the [selected] package at "admin" level.

This issue is the deeper investigation from: https://forum.directadmin.com/threads/restore-not-restoring-packages.61815/#post-319080

So the first issue was when Restoring <admin>, the message: Unable to read %s's package file %s for restoring: %sadmin/home/admin/backups/backup/packages/xxx.pkg

So I was searching if I could make a [Reseller Package] at <admin> level. Yes I can.

And at other Resellers Levels I can ssave the package (and restore).

But when I want to choose as <admin> the package at server.domein.com:2222/CMD_MODIFY_RESELLER?user=admin, I can save it, but it's not saved.

And so I can also not restore.

Even more after restore admin.root.admin.tar.gz - I can not use SSH (SFTP) at admin level etc.
So al lot of problems after a admin.root.admin.tar.gz restore.

When I look in the /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/admin/

...there's nothing inside the "packages.list"

I have this problem on 3 DirectAdmin installations
2 Installations are 1 week old.
1 Installation is 2 years old.

Can it be a issue from quotas?

At installation with CentOS 7, I had the:
/dev/mapper/centos_net3-root on / type xfs (rw,relatime,attr2,inode64,noquota)

So I have made:
nano /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="crashkernel=auto rd.lvm.lv=centos_net3/root rd.lvm.lv=centos_net3/swap rhgb quiet rootflags=uquota,pquota"
[Save]

cp /boot/grub2/grub.cfg /boot/grub2/grub.cfg.orig
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

Reboot

cd /usr/local/directadmin
./directadmin c | grep use_xfs_quota

Says:
use_xfs_quota=1

Reset users quota:

echo "action=rewrite&value=quota" >> /usr/local/directadmin/data/task.queue

Has somebody any issue with that or maybe al solution?

I have installed with:

CenOS Linux 7 (Core)
Kernel 3.10.0-1127.18.2.el7.x86_64 on an x86_64

wget -O setup.sh https://www.directadmin.com/setup.sh

chmod 755 setup.sh

./setup.sh auto

And now on the 3 machines:

I now understand what @smtalk asking me.

Honestly, I don/t want to install pre release. My system is now stable and working fine, whithout the <admin> restore.

I don't want more (unstable) issues (tempory).

The only problem i have now are the <user level> files (to restore).

So I will move them to a new Reseller account, so that they can be Restored (if necessary).

To get my DA system (from the start (empty server) costs me 2 days work (with DMARC, SPF, DKIM) etc.

Is it possible to save an excisting reseller package at ...

Because I'am on the <Admin Level>.

When I save the single ...

Bandwidth (MB) [v] Unlimited
Disk Space (MB) [v] Unlimited
Inodes [v] Unlimited
Domains [v] Unlimited
Sub-Domains [v] Unlimited

etc ... it stays saved.

When looking in the backup, the package is present, but is not restored.

I found this in the Directadmin errortasq.log file.

Update. Issue is not limited to root admin, also happens with other admins on restore.

After Restore:

1. DA Login 'admin' is whithout password, so I must with SSH Access each time make/set again "passwd admin".
2. At DA > Modify "admin" > 'SSH Access' has a [v] but SSH is not working in FileZilla. After make it [ ] and Save it and again make it [v] it works again at FileZilla. So after restore 'admin' dissapears from the sshd_config.

It's a bug, that much is clear, since more of us have this issue with packages when restoring any admin account (not only root admin).

As for the other 2 issues on restoring, I don't know.
I just wonder when the packages bug will be fixed because this is already known for 7 months.

Maybe when fixing this, they can have a look at the ssh issue too. Might be related somehow.
Otherwise you might have to send in a ticket.

Upping this thread again. This needs to be fixed. Having the same issue now and it's known already since august last year.

Also happening with other admin accounts on restore, not only root admins.

Is this being investigated yet?
Or is there a file we can manually adjust to fix this for the time being?

Problem: since 1 year:

Today, I had to restore an admin account, en got also the problem that I could not login anymore.

So problem, with, problem and more, so I had to restore quickly the whole server (without damage to other customers fortunally) ... Ik have 48 hours backups and also Snapshots, so ...

Anyway ...

It's always the problem with the admin account (restore).

So for the test, I made today a administrator "testadmin" account with a package.

Afther creating I saw (see image 1)

At the FileZilla Server: (see image 2)

So I could not restore this testadmin.

So is there a workout to get of this one year long problem?

Just did the restore again, with the admin (see image 3).

... and had to reset the password (with Terminal - no problem, because we use key) ...

And indead again the "Problems occured" with restore package (see image 4)

... So also the "Restore Problem" after 1 year.

Today I have installed a new server with Centos 8.

So everything new out of the box. Total clean.

New and Fresh, server, Centos 8, DirectAdmin (installed with the auto install script).

Everything without changing something in the configuration at DA.

And the first and only thing I made was. Add Reseller + Package + User.

- - -

Made backup (see image 1)

And Restored: (see image2)

And again the Error.

I have made a seperate "restore" and only with the "admin.root.admin.tar.zst" there's the error.

Not with the:
- reseller.admin.deelnemers.tar.zst
- user.deelnemers.abcdefghij.tar.zst

So the error must be in the clean package installation.

I will stop searching this problem ...

Please DirectAdmin - make it workable.

You could have spared you the effort. In post #8 I already stated this happened also on a freshly installed system.

There were no updates or fixes for this since that time. So I'm not wondering this is still happening.
